Interiors: Cabinetry

Page Seven

Here is the island that we built for this kitchen, made to look like a piece of furniture rather than kitchen cabinets.  We kept the bar area, similar to what had been existing before, but the bar is part of one piece of furniture, instead of being a separate wall.  We also switched from the cooktop in the island to the stove.

The island was painted an accent red to compliment the other furniture the clients have, and then deepened with a custom faux paint treatment.  Below to the right, note the details inspired by furniture.  There are two separate brackets to support the granite bar, and we installed fluted table legs on three sides to support the bar.  The pulls on the drawers are different from what was installed in the kitchen, to help single out and highlight the unique nature of this piece.
